Does anyone else have trouble using the damper/sustain pedal, located at the left top of the choir expression pedal on the new Rodgers organs? I have given up. I would love to use the piano MIDI voices, but every time I try to press the damper, the whole choir pedal moves. Any sugestions.
Here's what is going on...it sounds as if the tension on the Expression Pedal itself needs adjusted.
At times on a new organ they may loosen up with use to the point where they do not have enough friction in the setting for the pedal to stay in place, especially when you are trying to use the MIDI Switch.
You've got an excellent dealer and tech staff and it's under warranty, so a call to schedule a service call will solve the problem.
Should also mention that a pedal board tension adjustment can sometimes be helpful with older organs...if you play it all the time it can get weaker and you don't notice it, but getting the tension back up where it belongs eliminates lots of wrong notes!
As it was explained to me, put the left side of your foot on top of the sustain lever, not beside it. The other side of the foot controls the expression pedal. By pressing down with the left side of the foot, the little sustain lever will work with more control than trying to push it from the side.
